Should I be worried?!
Just back from having an MRI scan at Peterborough City Hospital.
In recent years I’ve undergone multiple scans (MRI, CT, ultrasound), and this was my third MRI scan. It’s not particularly pleasant (I’ve written about it before so I won’t repeat myself) but, let’s just say, it’s uncomfortably noisy with lots of loud electronic clicks and beeps.
I certainly wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who suffers from claustrophobia. It didn’t help that today’s 35-minute scan was interrupted after 15 minutes by a power surge so we had a 20-minute delay while an engineer was summoned to reset the machine and I had to lie there, half in (and half out). Combined with an earlier delay, what began as a 12.30 appointment didn’t finish until 2.45.
Anyway, I hadn’t anticipated my Saturday being so rudely interrupted because earlier in the week I gave my GP a list of dates when I was available for a scan, noting that I would prefer an appointment after Easter. Cue a phone call yesterday with an invitation/instruction to attend the urology department at PCH today.
To be fair, I can hardly complain, especially when so many people have to wait months (or longer) for treatment, but the question is … should I be worried?!
